About Us
Gadaa FC Houston was founded in 2015 by a dedicated group from the Oromo community in Houston. The club’s primary objective is to support Oromo youth through sports, promoting education and helping them achieve success. In 2016, Gadaa FC Houston marked a significant milestone by joining the Oromo Sports Federation in North America (OSFNA) during its 20th anniversary in Minneapolis.
Since joining OSFNA, Gadaa FC Houston has made remarkable progress. Over the next two years, the team worked tirelessly, culminating in a triumphant victory at the 2018 OSFNA tournament in Denver, Colorado, where they emerged as champions, advancing from Division B to the top tier.
Throughout the year, Gadaa FC Houston remains actively engaged with the youth, hosting workshops to facilitate a smooth transition for high school students. The club is also dedicated to helping Oromo youth preserve their cultural roots and encouraging their involvement in the community through various volunteer activities. Notably, since 2017, Gadaa FC Houston has participated annually in the Houston Chevron Marathon, assisting elite athletes from Oromia.
Gadaa FC Houston continues to be a beacon of support and cultural preservation for the Oromo youth in Houston, fostering both athletic and personal development within the community.
Purpose
- To promote education, sport, literatures, arts, cultures and preserve and pass on the rich and vibrant heritage among young generation community in Greater Houston.
- To establish contacts and affiliations with organizations with similar objectives and aims in the Greater Houston area and Communities.
- To organize Events to promote the socio-cultural heritage of African diaspora in The Greater Houston
- To organize charitable, educational and recreational events to foster Africa Culture, Community Outreach and/or Communal Harmony in Greater Houston area.
- To create cross cultural interaction and appreciation of diverse cultures.
- To engage in cultural exchanges with like-minded organizations.
- To participate in social welfare activities.
